Universal's own efforts to sell DRM-less music are a bold step in the right direction, but we have devices that allow us to listen to music. They're called radios. When we hear a song we like, we download it.

The only subscription Americans tolerate is cable/satellite TV, and even then we cast our PVR nets into the bitstream, haul up what we want, and watch it later. We live in an on-demand world.
